Lynnwood to Port Orchard: 46 miles
Day 1 started great. Great weather, strong legs. We peddled 34 miles to the Fauntlaroy Ferry in West Seattle. Martin joined us for the last 11 miles of the trip so I switched to my mountain bike and the Trail-a-bike. We peddled an extra 4 miles because I took a right turn from the ferry instead of a left turn. I paid for this dearly because for some reason my legs seized up with cramps big time. Probably had something to do with not having time to stretch for the past two weeks and the fact that the road is all mega-hills from Southworth Ferry to Port Orchard. After trying to de-cramp by stretching on the side of the road several times, I decided to cut the ride short by 4 miles. No big deal because we will retrace those miles tomorrow anyway. Jordan was sorely dissappointed that his dad turned up lame. Pray that my legs are strong tomorrow because we go 73 miles to Lake Silvia State Park.
Thanks so much to John and Misty Elston for hosting us at their house. A much needed refuge!
