Lunch time in Raymond, WA. We've taken over a booth at the Corner cafe, two sweaty bikers--one tremendously sore butt (Marty). Wonders of wonders, a free wi-fi oasis tucked in the middle of rural logging country.
145 miles. 835 miles to go.
Aside from feeling a real sharp pang as Martin and I drove through Belfair, the last 'big' town with a Chinese restaurant, a real coffee place, it's not too bad, this homelessness. Kinda feels like a peeling process, the shedding of excess layers the deeper we go in this Adventure.
Thanks for your prayers. Evidence of His provisions along the way which we attribute to your prayers. Marty had some severe cramping into Pt. Orchard--lots of hills. Some man took pity upon seeing Marty cramped up on the roadside. He pulled into his home, then came out with some ibprofen.
Martin and I enjoyed worshipping with the Elstons at Christ the Rock Community Church. Especially enjoyed the singing. Oh, that felt so refreshing, just having that last umph to the heart/soul before we headed out. We appreciate the Elston's warmth and hospitality. (Thanks for all your advice Jon and Misty regarding the N. CA leg. Oy. Will keep in mind)
Yesterday, parked outside a Subways in McClearly, WA a man came up to us and asked us where we were headin'. Turns out he is the owner of the only bike store between there and Olympia. He shared some invaluable information for our trip. Of all places, times to run into such an individual, again thanks for your prayers.
Only took two wrong turns on the road. :o) We've been able to meet up --Sag Wagon (moi) and the bikers pretty much when/where we have planned.
We camped at Lake Sylvia, SP last night. It was very nice! Didn't think I would get so excited and grateful to find a real soap dispenser in the restroom and an automatic paper towel dispenser. Still clinging to any vestiges of civilization I find. Oh yeah, the view was great too. Our bottomless tent wasn't bad.
Found a coffee store in Montesano. Okay, I confess I searched for every Starbucks along the way. There isn't one until we pass into Astoria on Wed. So this teeny little place called All Wrapped Up was a welcome sight and a delightful surprise.
Heading out soon...Camp Disappointment tonight.
love,
Soo

Sure missed you at church and the picnic yesterday. It wasn't the same without the Chase's there. We had some awesome worship yesterday....great singing...reminded me of back in the 80's. You would have loved it! Praying for safety, good weather, strong Marty legs, and for Soo to continue to find good coffee! Continue to see God's little miracles all around you!
oh my gosh!!
