Lincoln City to Honeyman State Park, Oregon: 79 miles
Our first fog day. Cold and windy. Strong headwind the entire way. Glad we had the tandem on this run. I heard that the fires in California are creating our headwinds and the intense heat inland is making it cool on the coast.
The rear derailer on the tandem won't shift into the easy gear for some reason, no matter how much I adjust the litter screws on the derailer. We need that gear when we climb hills. No worries, I just have Jordan give the derailer a little kick and it shifts into place. Kind of like spurring on a horse.
Today we biked 79 miles. We were 15 miles from the campsite when we hit a rock while heading downhill, which resulted in a flat tire. I fixed the flat but it did not take, the holes were too big. Soo to the rescue! We switched to our road bikes and finished the trip. Except for the wind, it was a good day. My knee, hamstring and butt still hurt but my energy level is stronger. I think I may be turning a corner from just surviving to looking forward to the rides. The Oregon Coast is spectacular. So far we have met 4 guys biking to San Francisco as well.
